I drew inspiration for my Collection initially from the Work of Sculptor Robert Morris. My own reaction to his artistic process inspired me to look at Kimonos, origami and the more function art of functional packaging design. Using the concept of draping from one single piece of fabric, I let one discovery inform and inspire the next. My choice a fabric reflects both the clean simplicity of a blank sheet of paper and also the influence of Japanese culture through out my work.
My aim was a create a 6 look collection that would push my pattern cutting ability by limiting the ways in which is could drape. This is turn limited the possible outcomes and forced myself outside of my usual creative comfort zone. In doing so, I created a collection that is clean and minimalistic aesthetically which being clever and innovative in its process.
